I INTERNATIONAL MEETING SAFEGUARD, COMMUNICATION AND DIGITAL MEDIATION OF CULTURAL HERITAGE

Tipo: Conferência

Local: FLUP

Data: 26 outubro 2023 28 outubro 2023

In recent years, we have been witnessing the growth of the digital’s potential applied to the communication and mediation of the Cultural Heritage. Following the international guidelines, such as The Principles of Seville (2011), the concepts set out in the London Charter (2014) and more recently in the Porto Santo Charter (2021), the aim of this International Meeting is to promote a multidisciplinary approach which congregant’s areas as Archaeology, History, History of Art, Museology, Heritage Studies, Digital Design, Archivists and Artificial Intelligence. As announced in the Porto Santo Charter, the use of “digital territories” can set up “an open space of interaction, appropriation and promotion of the cultural democracy, even from the point of view of its creation”, as well as a way of establishing a connection between the institutions and the citizens as members of a certain community. These tools should, for this reason, be useful to people and to engage them in heritage’s cultural policies. In this way, it is intended to promote the necessary reflexion about the multidisciplinary nature of these “digital territories” that involve the technology and the creation of knowledge, with view of a better communication and, therefore, enjoyment of means designated “for the exercise of cultural democracy” (Porto Santo Charter, 2021), at local, national, and international scales.

Bearing in mind the intrinsic relationship between the development of the digital technologies and the heritage communication, we invite the academic community to present innovative proposals (like ongoing projects or already finished), in a broad and multidisciplinary perspective, based on the following topics of reflexion:

Registration, safeguarding and access
